Letter from the Brentford Football Club boardroom, 11th April 2006
Dear Supporters,
Well it was another tense match on Saturday and we certainly played better than we have of late. Whilst we did not get the three points our performance deserved it was at least a point more than most of our promotion rivals managed!
This week David Heath concluded the investigation into the high profile ejection that took place in the Braemar Road Paddock at the Doncaster game. As a result a statement was published in the Club programme on Saturday and I now hope that we can all put the incident behind us.
I held my surgery on Saturday and, just like the previous surgery, the Club’s financial plight was the main topic of conversation. We have a massive challenge just to reduce our losses let alone to clear our multi-million pound debt. Supporter involvement is vital to secure the future of the Club. You can help in many ways and it just doesn’t have to be donating cash. If you could give some time that often is just as valuable. For example, the Club is looking for volunteers to give out brochures for next season’s season tickets one hour before the Blackpool game and as supporters leave at the end. If you can help please contact me at .
Whilst on the topic of fundraising I attend the auction after Saturday’s game. I understand that in the region of £1,600 was raised by Paul Stedman and his fellow helpers. Well done to everyone involved.
I also heard on Saturday that a couple of our supporters (Natasha Judge and Fraulien Edmonds) are joining the walkers from Hartlepool United to raise funds our Club. The Hartlepool supporters are retracing the steps of our famous five walkers to raise cash for the Harlepool United Disabled Supporters Association and are planning to arrive at the ground for our match with Hartlepool on 29 April. The plan is that Natasha and Fraulien will join the Hartlepool walkers on the last leg (no pun intended) of their journey which is planned to be 25 miles. Our famous five walkers will also be joining the walk to show solidarity with both sets of walkers. So if you want to pledge money for our walkers visit www.justgiving/natashajudge
Continuing the money theme whilst I was in the Princess Royal I was offered half price tickets for the game! Unfortunately the seller got away but I did manage to secure one of the tickets. Investigations have now commenced at the Club and we hope to identify the source of these tickets. If you should be offered such tickets in the future please do not buy them as it is robbing the Club of much needed revenue. If you are offered cheap tickets it would help us eliminate this touting if you can identify the individual and alert one of the Club stewards.
Let’s work together!
Jon Gosling
