Letter from the Brentford FC boardroom, 2nd May 2006

Dear Supporters,

This week I visited Club and discussed with Lisa Hall and Tracey Studds the 2006/7 budget for ticketing. The discussions focused on complementary tickets and transaction and season ticket printing costs. We also talked about progress concerning the advance ticket sales improvements that we identified last week.

Whilst at the Club I took the opportunity to visit the Learning Zone and met Jo Emmerson. It was wonderful to see the children really enjoying themselves under the leadership of Chris Barrett. One of the excellent pieces of work that Jo and the team completed was the Brentford ‘til I die book. This was produced as part of the BBC RAW campaign and Jo showed me a short DVD, made by the BBC, about the production of the book. It really showed the best of Brentford and made me proud to be associated with the Club. The film deserves to be seen by a wider audience and we discussed ideas to achieve this. Back to the book, one lad in the Learning Zone proudly told me that he had read it five times! If you haven’t bought it yet it really is a great read and there are just a few copies left in the Club shop.

I also met Lee Doyle and discussed the exciting times the Community Sports Trust is enjoying. They will shortly be leaving Griffin Park to move to new premises close to the Ground. In one way you could view this negatively as one of the Club’s great assets becoming separated from the Club itself. I prefer to look at as a great sign that the Club is expanding and moving out into the community itself. We will now have two branches of Brentford FC in Brentford!

We have identified the individual responsible for the ticket touting at the Blackpool game and, as a result, they have been given a warning about their future conduct. Once again I thank the supporters who assisted us in being able to identify the culprit.

Wasn’t it great to win one of the prizes in the Coca-Cola Win A Player promotion? It would have been nice to have got the £250,000 but £50,000 is not bad! Well done and thank you to all of you who voted. Also I must also say a special ‘thank you’ for kick starting our rise up the table to the BAMB and GPG websites and Peter Gilham for promoting it on the official site.

Of course I must finish by asking you all for plenty of PMA for next week.

Let’s work together!

Jon Gosling
