Letter from the Brentford FC boardroom, 8th May 2006
Dear Supporters,
Well it is the play-offs for us, and this time next week we will know if we have made it to Cardiff for the final. It is certainly is a very important week for the Club. The Club’s office staff are going to be working long hours and be under considerable pressure to sell tickets to supporters. Some small improvements in selling tickets for the game have been implemented, but due to the lack of time available to sell them before the first match, more significant changes have been delayed until the close season. Please be understanding during this busy period when the Club staff will be working their hardest to meet your needs.
I am very disappointed that supporters who are unable to travel to Swansea for a Thursday night match have to miss out seeing their team play because of policing problems in Yorkshire. Why do our supporters have to suffer? Losing the Sky money is also another blow to our finances and makes this situation even worse. If you feel strongly about this let Sky Sports know.
At the Club board meeting we continued to work on the budget. Our aim is to finalise this when we know what division we will be playing in next season.
As part of the budget preparations I have been working on how we can improve the revenue generated from away supporters whilst adhering to Football League Rules and Guidelines. I submitted a proposal to the board which was accepted. We are now planning the implementation so that the changes will be in place for the start of the season.
We have two tough matches coming up against Swansea so let’s get behind the team and help them get to the Millennium Stadium!
Let’s work together!
Jon Gosling
