Letter from the Brentford FC boardroom, 4th September 2006

Dear Supporters,

With the news of a possible takeover at West Ham I was reminded that the so called “big clubs” are not immune to the whims of owners. The day after West Ham supporters were celebrating the arrival of Tévez and Mascherano they are now pondering what the involvement of the potential new owners could mean to the future of their Club. Throughout the game there has been a history of owners who have done some very good things for their clubs but equally there have been many who have not had the best interests of the Club at heart. The latter one is often a major driver for the setting-up of supporters’ trusts.

Supporters’ trusts are there to ensure the long-term sustainability of their football club. Bees United is no different. In the last year massive strides have been taken have been taken to secure future of the Club but even so the Club’s future is still precarious. There is still much to be done. Following last Thursday’s Bees United board meeting the board are now preparing their next phase to help the Club move to “safer waters.”

To move the Club to these “safer waters” Bees United will need your continued support. Without it the situation will be hopeless. Please continue your support to keep our Club alive.

Let’s work together!

Jon Gosling
