Supporter Director Objectives for the Season (2006/07)
In the Tranmere Rovers programme I described the role of Supporter Director. Part of the role is to set out objectives for each season. These have been agreed with both the Club and Bees United Boards and are shown below together with a short explanation of why each objective has been included:
- Run matchday surgeries every month throughout the season and report the main topics raised, dealing with any individual questions raised in a timely manner.
This gives you the opportunity once a month to meet me without the need to make an appointment to see me.
- Visit different parts of the ground on matchdays when I am not holding a surgery.
To make me accessible to those supporters who cannot attend matchday surgeries.
- Publish at least one programme article a month in the Club programme.
This will give all supporters who buy a programme general information on what I am doing as Supporter Director.
- Communicate regularly via the Supporter Director website (www.bfcsupporterdirector.co.uk) ensuring supporters are aware of the activities I am involved in.
This will give all supporters who have Internet access more detailed information on what I am doing as Supporter Director.
- Ensure that the policies on tickets for the boardroom and complementary tickets are published and that the numbers of complementary tickets are known by the end of the season.
One of my election promises was to ensure that there was transparency in complementary ticketing and to reassure supporters that the issuing of free tickets was not being abused.
- Facilitate the growth of the involvement of people with disabilities in the Club, Supporters’ and Community Sports Trusts.
By winning the award of Football League Community Club it shows what groundbreaking work is being done at this Club. There is still much to be done and an aspect I want to help with is getting more people with disabilities involved with all aspects of the Club.
- Review the effectiveness of the policy of encouraging the young (under 16s) to attend matches at Griffin Park.
I want to make sure we are doing everything we can to encourage the next generation of Brentford supporters.
- Set-up a networking group between Trust owned Clubs in the Football League and other interested parties.
I think it is really important that trust owned clubs share their knowledge and experiences as we are pioneering new ways of running football clubs.
- At the end of the season chair an open review with the Club, supporter representative groups and individual supporters of the Club’s performance against the Club charter and associated promises made to the Football League.
I am anxious to ensure that the Club keeps to the promises it has made to supporters and the Football League in the Club’s Customer Charter. If it has not, to make sure it takes action to rectify the situation.
I will give you updates throughout the season on the progress I have made and the next one will be in the New Year.
For me it is essential I play my part with you to continue to move our Club in the right direction.
Let’s work together!
Jon Gosling
