What happened at the Surgery?
On Saturday, 6 September I held my second surgery of the season for supporters in the Hive in the Braemar Road Stand. I met with 6 supporters. I would like to thank all those who came to meet me. The main questions that they raised were:
- Will the Club consider lowering the Golden Season Ticket qualification age from 85 to 80 years old for next season? This will be considered when the Club reviews the pricing proposals and associated revenue requirements for the 2009/10 season. It should be noted that it is expected that with the current pricing for admissions the Club is forecasting to lose in excess of £500,000 this season.
- Why was Alan Connell allowed to leave for AFC Bournemouth? Andy Scott had stated that he want Alan to stay at the Club and fight for his place. Following Alan’s departure, he told the Hounslow Chronicle that, "The main reason I left was because I need to be playing first-team football at my age, and I didn't think I was going to get it at Brentford.” When the player made his wishes known it gave Andy little choice in getting the best deal he could for our Club.
- How many loan players can a team have? A maximum of 5 loan players (including a goalkeeper) can be named in the sixteen players listed on a team sheet for any individual match.
- Is the bar in the Hive going to be made bigger and why can’t proper glasses be provided? Competitive quotes are being sought for this work which, hopefully will be within the Club’s budget. If it is, then the work will go ahead as quickly as possible and will result in the restoration of glass washing facilities which will remove the need for plastic glasses.
My next surgery in The Princess Royal will be before the home game with Macclesfield Town on 4 October between 1.45 - 2.30 pm and not 1.15 - 2.15 pm as previously advertised. I will then attend the BU Board Surgery afterward in the Hive in the Braemar Road Stand.
